Standing seam metal roofing

A clean, durable roofing system built around raised seams, concealed attachment, and carefully formed details.

Understanding the system

What makes standing seam different?

Standing seam roofing uses long metal panels joined by raised vertical seams. The primary panel fasteners are concealed beneath the finished seams.

The roof is planned as a complete water-shedding system—not simply a layer of metal. Panel layout, roof edges, valleys, ridges, wall transitions, penetrations, and flashing all have to work together.

MG Metal Roofing fabricates every panel and matching metal part—including drip edge and valleys—for the individual roof. Making these components ourselves allows the system to be formed for a true custom fit.

MG Metal Roofing also evaluates the shape and condition of the roof before recommending a panel profile, attachment method, or replacement approach.

Details that matter

A strong roof depends on more than the panels.

01

Roof geometry

Slope, valleys, hips, transitions, and penetrations determine how panels and flashing should be planned.

02

Custom fabrication

MG Metal Roofing fabricates the panels, drip edge, valleys, and related metal parts to fit the measurements and details of the individual roof.

03

Edge and flashing work

Clean eaves, rakes, ridges, valleys, and wall details are essential to the finished system.

A careful process

From evaluation to finished roof.

The exact steps depend on the house, existing roof, and selected system.

01

Evaluate

Review roof condition, measurements, drainage paths, and difficult details.

02

Plan

Confirm materials, panel layout, flashing approach, and project sequence.

03

Install

Prepare the roof and form the panels and details with attention to alignment.

04

Review

Inspect the completed transitions, trim, penetrations, and cleanup.

Common questions

Before choosing standing seam.

Can standing seam be installed on every home?

Not automatically. Roof slope, deck condition, geometry, ventilation, penetrations, and local requirements should be reviewed first. Some subdivisions also require approval from the homeowners association (HOA) or architectural review committee before a metal roof can be installed.

Are all standing-seam systems the same?

No. Panel dimensions, metal thickness, coatings, attachment, and seam styles vary. Those choices should be matched to the project.

Can MG Metal Roofing look at an existing roof?

Yes. Start with a conversation and an evaluation of the property so the available options can be explained clearly.
